Will League of Legends Mobile be as Successful?

There is a report floating around that a Mobile version of League of Legends is in the works since Riot Games and Tencent agreed to work together.  Well, this is not a surprise since if you research property, Tencent actually owns Riot.  The main question here however is will League of Legends be applicable on mobile?

League of Legends Mobile

Technically there are 2 remaining very popular Multiplayer Online Battlle Arena or MOBA for desktop – League of Legends and Defence of the Ancents (DoTA).  In terms of popularity and players, however, LoL outshines the later.  The shift in the strategy of LoL might be due to the fact that the attention of gamers is slowly moving from desktop to mobile and they need to recapture lost revenue.

An article on Reuters confirms that the development of League of Legends mobile was way in the works for over a year now but the release might not come this year yet.

“League of Legends is not doing as well as it used to and so Riot badly needs a new way to monetise the game, especially considering that it is Riot’s only game,” – Gu Tianyi, Amsterdam-based analyst with gametracker Newzoo.

Would League of Legends maintain two game types one for mobile users and one for desktop users like what other games are doing?  I think this would be the better choice, to allow those who are not very fond of desktop gaming to experience the beauty of LoL.

Mobile Legends vs League of Legends Mobile

Can League of Legends Mobile finally defeat Mobile Legends supremacy in the Philippines and nearby countries?  As we all know despite Riot winning the case over ML, this MOBA game is definitely one of the most popular in the country.  There are certain things lacking in Mobile Legends and they cannot deny that they copy LoL, with the arrival of the original game in the mobile platform, we can expect some competition.

What do you think of this?  Will League of Legends Mobile be as successful as its desktop counterpart?
